Chapter 32: Highs and Lows
Hey y'all!
We actually had lessons set up for this week! Most of them canceled or rescheduled the day of, but! This is progress from having no lessons! And we did end up having some amazing lessons on the fly with people!
Tuesday, I'm not going to lie was kind of a rough day. DCM was a bit of a struggle. And we were supposed to have a lesson right afterwards, but the guy was leaving so he asked if we could come by later. We had a service after that with this awesome guy named Henry. He fed us Olive Garden and we helped him with some chores around his house and walked his big fluffy dog. Then we had a visit with our recent convert Ivan that evening. Ivan is literally so amazing. He's one of the most precious, pure, and humble people I've met. The day ended better than it started for sure.
Wednesday we had a couple lessons with recent converts and less actives. They were good, for the most part. One of them we were sitting outside on the porch, and literally, I was MAD STRUGGLING not to fall asleep. Haha, it was bad. The guy mostly talked to us about golfing. It was also the hottest and most humid day yet, so probably a big factor there. And the fact that we've just been staying up late, oops. But we've been having some good needed chats.
We also visited a media referral. She's absolutely amazing!! I'm so excited to continue to teach her! She even asked if we could meet twice a week!
For our dinner, we had a member meal with the McDonald family. I seriously love them. We had a really good and mind blowing gospel discussion after dinner.
Thursday was kinda an interesting day. We made cookies to deliver and did that while visiting people. We had dinner that night with a pmf. We were there for waaay too long, haha. But it was good! The members fiancé was asking us a lot of questions about what we believe. It was awesome!
Friday we were going to have a service with our friend Angelic out in Holly Hill, but she canceled. We still went out to Holly Hill. I LOVE driving out in the country! I could go 70 on some of the roads! It's just so green and beautiful out here. We ended up having an impromptu lesson with our friend Leroy, and found a couple more people out that way to start teaching!! Also set up some service! That night we had dinner with the Abar's. Literally love them so so much. Sister Abar is my mission momma. Literally go to her for all the things. She's fabulous.
Sunday, was kinda a chill day. Lowkey kinda weird. Most the day was church and studies, then we had a member meal. It started down pouring while we were there. Thank goodness we just leave our rain jackets in the car. But we decided to go visit this guy in Goose Creek. Drove through some nice big puddles. Also, it's unbelievably hard to find roads and houses when it's storming. But we managed to find his house! He wasn't there, but we had a great conversation and prayer with his mother in law and set up a time to come back when all of them would be there!
This week I've been kinda slacking on reading the Book of Mormon, and I can tell the difference it has on my day and on how I make it through the days and week. I'm a lot less focused, it's harder to push through tough moments, and I feel my teaching quality suffers. While there are so many wonderful resources for us to study and build our faith with, the Book of Mormon is the most powerful. It is so focused on Christ and brings so much understanding and guidance when studied. I know this Book was written for us, now, here in these last days. If you are uncertain about how you feel about the Book of Mormon, I invite you to read it, everyday, and take Moroni's invitation to heart and pray sincerely. Your answer will come in the Lord's timing. Trust Him. I love the Book of Mormon. I know that because it teaches about Jesus Christ, it has the power to change lives and bring us closer to Him than any other book or resource. I love Jesus. He is my reason why I choose to stay. His Joy and His Love can heal all wounds and comfort all hearts. I pray that you will open up to Him and find His healing in your life.
I love you, God loves you, Jesus loves you.
