Chapter 66: Laman, Lemuel, Sam, Nephi and a Mouse

Hi Y'all! Imma try to make this one short!

Most this week has been planning for Zone Conference and going on exchanges. We went with the Inman Sisters this week! I got to go to Inman with Sister Newren! It was a lot of fun! We had a "conversation" with this sweet lady who only spoke Russian. Wasn't much of a conversation really, it was a lot of back and forth using a translating app. We ended up telling her God loves her and giving her hugs.

Thursday started out rough. But we listened to this talk about bings and we saw sooooo many miracles! We found a new friend to teach! Her name is Nicole. We were knocking on a members door. Member doesn't live there anymore, but Nicole does! She let us right in and we had such and amazing on the spot lesson with her! I'm excited to keep teaching her!

Thursday we had a visit with a member who can't make it to church because of health reasons. And that was a very spiritually powerful visit. Heavenly Father knew I needed that visit and I'm grateful that He guided us to go there. It still amazes me how lots of times we go on these visits or we teach a lesson, and sometimes those visits/lessons are just as much for me as they were for the other person. It's such a blessing that we got to share this Light of the Gospel with others and in the process let the Light surround us too.

Saturday we went to a primary activity where they talked about the Temple. It was fun getting to share a simple testimony of the Temple and the blessings that come from it with the primary children. They're so full of wonder and faith, it always lifts my spirits to be around them.

Then we helped out at a soup kitchen. It was my second time this week because Sister Newren and I also went to a soup kitchen on exchanges.

The most eventful evening of our week was Friday. A couple days before we saw some mouse poop on our counter, so we told the members we live with and they set up some traps while we were out for the day. When we got home there was already a mouse in one of the traps! Sister Abes ran upstairs freaking out haha. The member took it outside and said he'd take care of it in the morning..... y'all. That mouse was still alive. Poor things head was stuck in the trap and he was trying to get out.... he didn't last very long... BUT! We have no mouse inside anymore. Sister Abes left a trail of cheerios on the floor so that any other mice would follow the trail to the trap and not go to our bedroom haha.

We also bought cat treats for a sunshine moment so that we could be besties with all the strays we meet. Eloel.

Okay Spiritual thought. We started doing a Sunday night Come Follow Me Book of Mormon read with the Sisters in the zone, and it is literally one of my favorite parts of the week! Last Sunday we were reading in 1 Nephi 16 and talking about Lehi and his family traveling through the wilderness. These were two of my favorite comments from that call.

"The Lord is not asking us to do things just to leave us in the wilderness to die" -Sister Hess

"What's the point of the finish line if He's[God] not going to get you to the end?" -Sister Abernathy

God asks us to do hard things. All the time. He always has and always will. But just like Nephi testifies, God will not ask us to do things that He hasn't prepared a way for us to accomplish them.

I love how Nephi is always ready to do what the Lord asks. When the Lord told him to build a boat Nephi didn't doubt, didn't question his ability, didn't murmur. He simply and determinedly asks the Lord what he needs to do and asks the Lord to guide him.

I strive to be as trusting and faithful as Nephi. To not murmur or fear, but to ask the Lord "whither shall I go?".

I know the Lord will always be there to guide us along. To give us strength. To give us Light.

Always remember that. And always remember that God loves you. Jesus loves you. And I love you.
