Chapter 70: Marsh Sistahs in the Mountains
Hi y'all!!
I'm going to be honest, I really don't remember what happened this week other than Sister Abernathy did lots of packing, transfers, and SISTER WARD IS MY COMPANION AGAIN!!!
Okay, now after having looked through areabook, (love this app so much!), I can give y'all some more details about the week.
Tuesday was dcm and Sister Abernathy's "funeral". We chased her through the church with nerf guns. Very dramatic. Very sad. Then for dinner we went to the Bisonberry farm! It was so fun! We rode in the side-along golf cart thing INTO the bison pasture. Literally pulled right up in the middle of the herd. Waaaaay closer than you'll ever get in Yellowstone.
Thursday we found out transfer news. And let me tell ya. I cried happy tears when I saw my name next to Sister Wards'. I had been praying for weeks that my last companion would be someone I could grind the area with, be completely comfortable, and have joy in the work with. God answered those prayers!! Sister Ward and I have just been reminiscing on our transfer together in Hilton Head. We saw so many miracles everyday. And I know that we will see so many this transfer too! We've already seen some in the past two days together!
For lunch that day, Brother Courney took us to lunch. Then later in the day we went up to their house and held the baby goats again. Also! They now have three baby goats!! So precious!! I'm literally in love with baby goats. It's probably because I can't hold a baby baby, so my option is baby goats. But I'll take it!! Can't wait to take Sis Ward up there to meet them. One of the lil baby goats names is Ray Ray. Named after the one and only Sister Ray. Yes!
Friday was transfers. It was a mix of happy and mega sad. I got to see Sister Jolley and Elder Bierman and Elder Black and Sister Noel! But also had to say goodbye to tons of missionaries too. Elder Twiss, Sis Abernathy, Sis Mackowiak, Sis Cain. But I'll see them again.
Saturday was soupah busy. We served in the soup kitchen that morning. (See what I did there???? Don't worry, I wont do it again)... then we drove to lessons, had to reschedule them, did some visits, and had an awesome lesson with a recent convert!
Sunday I went to church twice! It was like being back in Aiken! We went to our church, the drove to Simpsonville and did a mini exchange with the Sisters there. One of the Sisters has been sick so we went over so one of us could stay with her while the other went out with her companion for a little bit. It was fun!
Last little thing that's not actually little and probs the most important of the email. During the second sacrament meeting, a young boy went up and bore his testimony. He was talking about feeling the love Heavenly Father has for us. And I've been thinking about this simple sentence he said, "the love strengthens when you pass it on to each other". And it's so true! The love we feel from God only increases when we share that love and help others to feel His love as well. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Knowing and feeling our Heavenly Fathers love for us is one of the most important things!
So share His love and always remember, God loves you, Jesus loves you, and I love you!
-Sister Ray
Bye Sis Abernathy!
